Westchester

A place where you can see diversity in motion.

Welcome to Westchester

Like almost any place in California, the neighborhood of Westchester in western Los Angeles has some pretty fine weather. The beaches are close by, inviting you to come out and play, the greens of the golf course are waiting for you to hit that perfect shot, while the shopping areas are right at your doorstep. For the jet-setters, you no longer have to worry about missing your flight or those long, arduous journeys to the airport. When you live in Westchester, the airport is seriously just a stone’s throw away.

This area of Los Angeles started out as a farming region, growing all sorts of crops which favored the climate of Westchester. Not long after, development began, and the agricultural land had to make way for the demand in housing that quickly rose. The need for housing units was fueled by the aerospace industry, which was flourishing in the area. People made their way to this place, which was called Westchester, and since then, the community has kept on growing.

Part of this neighborhood, which is bordered by Playa del Rey, Culver City, Inglewood, and El Segundo, includes the Los Angeles International Airport or LAX, the Otis College of Art and Design, and Loyola Marymount University. Westchester is a place where you can see diversity in motion. The people here come from all walks of life and respect each other for who they are. Because of the institutions of higher education that are located here, the neighborhood is vibrant and has a college-town feel to it.

Westchester, with its ranches and bungalows nestled on comfortable lots, is a neighborhood with its own charm.
